FILISGLASS (Greece) Sustainability Manager
The platform helped us view our existing ESG efforts in a more organized and structured way. We were already working on some ESG-related practices, but it gave us a clearer picture of where we stand and what could be improved. It also helped us better understand ESG standards overall, especially those that apply to our field. It’s still an ongoing process, but it has been helpful so far.
One of the biggest changes we’ve made is reducing paper use, by around 80%. This became possible using electronic signatures, digital client files for insurance companies, and e-invoicing.
We’ve also started leasing electric and hybrid vehicles, step by step.
In addition, we emphasize windshield repair whenever possible and safe, rather than full replacement. Repairs extend the life of the glass, reducing the amount of waste going to landfills, and minimizing the energy processes required for manufacturing and transporting new windshields, making it both a cost-effective and a more responsible choice.
We’re a family-owned company, and the way we work reflects that, we really function like a family. Management team’s door is always open, and communication is something we value and treasure a lot. We continuously encourage our people to feel comfortable sharing thoughts or concerns, and we work hard to maintain a supportive, respectful atmosphere day to day. We also organize regular team-building seminars and activities to strengthen collaboration and keep the team spirit strong.
Internal surveys show us that our people appreciate and look forward participating in this kind of events.
In addition, we take part every year in the “National Customer Service Day” organized by EIEP, the Hellenic Institute of Customer Service. It’s an important initiative that highlights the role of customer service across different sectors in Greece. For us, it’s a meaningful chance not only to communicate this to our retail and B2B customers, but to recognize our team’s efforts as well, promote a culture of service, and stay aligned with modern standards and practices.
When it comes to community engagement, we actively support local and regional events and causes. Most recently, we sponsored the Thessaloniki Mediterranean Culture & Sports Tournament 2025, a cultural and sports event that brought together youth teams and demonstration sports as part of Greece’s Mediterranean Festival program. Over the years, we’ve also supported NGOs such as Doctors Without Borders, To Hamogelo tou Paidiou (The Smile of the Child), and Mazi gia to Paidi (Together for the Child), because giving back is part of our culture and we are dedicated to make the difference wherever and whenever this is possible.
We’ve always valued transparency and ethical behavior in the way we operate.
Recently, we’ve been taking steps to formalize and strengthen these principles through more structured internal processes. This includes clearer documentation, defined roles and responsibilities, and a more organized approach to compliance. Our goal is to ensure that as we grow, our governance practices grow with us, keeping everything transparent, responsible, and in line with industry standards.
It has given us a kind of framework to think about ESG more clearly. We now have a better picture of which areas we should focus on in the future. The platform is helpful in giving direction without forcing a one size fits all model.
Start by understanding your own company’s status and where things stand, so that you give yourself a reference point.
ESG can seem complex at first, but tools like Synesgy help organize the process. It doesn’t have to be perfect from the beginning, it’s more about taking the first steps and continuing from there.
Nevertheless, sustainability is an ongoing and dynamic process, which brings and leaves positive footprint wherever is being applied and certainly ensures a future for your company. As soon as you realize that you will understand that is the only way for a healthy grow.
