Can you tell us a little more about this project and your role in it?

AGE originated from an innovative concept – to unite local automotive glass service providers, facilitating the exchange of best practices and market knowledge. The overarching goal was to enhance, develop, and catalyze positive change within the automotive glass industry. As a global group, we leverage a comprehensive perspective, allowing us to analyze trends, technical advancements, customer expectations, and needs, thus remaining attuned to the impact of our work.

To establish ourselves as a benchmark in the market, we shoulder the responsibility of connecting various elements in our service chain to ensure the highest quality of service. One notable initiative is our repair-before-replace policy, a simple yet impactful step resulting in the reduction of up to 44kg of CO2 emissions.

In the contemporary landscape, concepts like sustainability, integrated processes, cybersecurity, green mobility, employee well-being, and customer experience and satisfaction are paramount. When AGE declares “Together, creating change,” it transcends mere rhetoric; it symbolizes our commitment to effecting tangible change for our customers, partners, and employees.

The AGE Electric project emerged from this commitment. Observing a surge in electric vehicles in our workstations revealed a significant gap in industry preparedness. Adhering to a standard that ensures high-quality service worldwide, we identified potential risks associated with electric vehicles in our daily operations.

Even if the risk is minimal, it is a risk. Additionally, we exercised caution with the new components found in the glass, expected to increase over time. This led to the inception of the AGE Electric Protocol and E.A.T., with the latter being the inaugural tool in the service chain.

As an AGE board member, I managed the project and developed the E.A.T. product in partnership with the assistance of DuPont.

What was the necessity and objective behind this project?

Safety was the driving force behind this project. Electric Vehicles (E.V.) represent a rapidly growing segment in our market, characterized by diverse offerings. At AGE, our ethos is to be at the forefront of industry trends, adopting a modern and prepared approach.

The overarching objective is to proactively address the challenges posed by the increasing prevalence of electric vehicles in our market. Recognizing the dynamic nature of this sector and the critical need for safety, our aim is to ensure that our services and protocols align with the unique requirements and potential risks associated with electric vehicles.

We are committed to providing a secure and cutting-edge automotive glass service tailored to the evolving landscape of the market.

What does AGE mean by “designated glass professionals”?

In the context of AGE, “designated glass professionals” are individuals who have received specialized training, have access to the required materials, and possess the expertise necessary to work specifically with electric vehicles. As part of the AGE Electric Protocol, we ensure that each workstation is staffed with a designated glass professional who has undergone training tailored to the unique requirements of electric vehicle (EV) glass jobs.

These professionals are equipped not only with the necessary training but also with the appropriate tools and materials to handle tasks related to electric vehicles effectively. To further emphasize their qualification and commitment to excellence, a designation form is in place, serving as a documented record affirming that the designated glass professional has received prior training.

What was the role DuPont played in this project?

DuPont played a pivotal role as a key partner and sponsor in this project. Given DuPont’s active involvement in the Electric Vehicle (E.V.) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) industry, their insights were sought during the project’s evolution. This collaboration stemmed from mutual curiosity, as we exchanged valuable data of interest to both parties.

This strategic partnership significantly contributed to the project’s success, showcasing the power of collaboration in advancing innovations in the automotive glass industry. DuPont’s role as both a partner and sponsor underscores their commitment to driving progress and excellence in this evolving sector.

What are the benefits that customers can gain from this?
